A Passion Realized

Compass Equine is a new adventure for me, one that has been long in the making.  I am blessed to feel a special bond with these beautiful and trusting animals.  So, after years of waiting for the timing to be right, (by the way, timing is never right, so just jump) I am finally stepping into this rewarding new chapter.

Recognizing the unique ability of horses to help humans gain deeper insights into themselves, I am honored to announce that Compass Equine offers Horse Facilitated Grief and Loss guidance. Through gentle interaction with our horses, individuals are guided to recognize and process their emotions in a safe and supportive environment. Drawing upon my training and the intuitive connection with my horses, we provide empathetic support to those experiencing grief and loss.

Becoming a certified facilitator for Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) programs is the culmination of my lifelong passion, enabling me to blend deep empathy for others with years of hands-on experience training horses. My approach is rooted in creating a safe, transformative space where participants can build confidence and enhance their communication skills through meaningful interactions with my horses.

This unique combination of compassionate guidance and equine partnership allows me to empower others on their personal growth journeys, making a tangible difference in their wellbeing.

Teachings From the Horse

What makes partnering with horses so special is the trust and respect they give. These magnificent creatures have taught me valuable lessons, shaping me into a better human being. Their ability to connect and teach is truly humbling, and I’ve embraced their wisdom to grow personally.

A Partnership With Grace and Phoenix

At the heart of Compass Equine are my two remarkable mares, Grace and Phoenix. Grace, with her calm and gentle wisdom, has a way of putting people at ease and encouraging thoughtful reflection. Phoenix, on the other hand, brings a spirited energy that inspires confidence and motivates individuals to step out of their comfort zones.

One memorable moment involved Phoenix gently nudging a participant during an exercise, as if to remind her to be present in the moment. Through mindful equine interactions, Grace and Phoenix help people find calm, build confidence, and reconnect with their sense of purpose, leaving every individual enriched and energized for their own life journey.

Fran - Certified Horse Facilitated Grief Guide / Certified EAL Facilitator

From the day these beautiful horses came to live with me; I have been inspired by the teachings they unknowingly provide.  As I interact with them, the more I learn about myself.  I know that they look to me not just for food (I probably look like a giant feed bag to them) but for safety and leadership.  They have helped me step into the role of respected leader with confidence, patience  and trust.

I have discovered how powerful it can be to partner with a horse and unlock untapped self-awareness. This insight inspired me to launch Compass Equine. My aim is to assist individuals in recognizing their inner strength by engaging in guided interactions with horses, which foster self-awareness, confidence, and personal growth.

I believe that whatever you do - make it fun and memorable.  And if you smell like horse at the end of the day - then its been a GOOD day.

Meet the Partners

Grace - Teacher of Trust

Originally rescued by SPCA, Grace is a delicate flower who requires constant monitoring due to her health issues. Gaining her trust can be challenging, but once achieved, she offers a heartwarming connection.

Phoenix - Teacher of Communication

Phoenix, from Dare to Dream Rescue, demands strong leadership and clear communication. She is an open book, eager to respond to patient guidance. Being successful with Phoenix is a huge confidence builder to all participants.

Amazing Support at Compass Equine

Lloyd - Barn Manager

Lloyd, a true outdoorsmen and jack of most trades, found himself working with horses when 2 rescue mares came into his life about 16 years ago. He’s known for spoiling the horses and enjoys chatting with them while tending his garden.

Cookie

Don't tell the other cats but Cookie is my favorite.  He is always hanging around the barn for cuddles and is typically first to greet you when you arrive.
